As a rule, several OWL EYE® platforms with various 3D LiDAR sensors are installed in the warehouse area. These are mounted under the roof of the warehouse and in the immediate vicinity of the stockpiles, for example on masts, buildings or superstructures. The higher the sensors are mounted above the stockpile, the better the coverage. Various sensors with different properties can be combined. We offer optimised sensor configurations for both indoor and outdoor use.
The system can also be installed on mobile units, for example on moving machines or portable platforms. In outdoor areas, the position is determined via GPS, while precise travel distance measurement is used indoors. This means that the system is completely flexible and can be used anywhere – even without a fixed network connection, as the data can be transmitted wirelessly.

The Owl Eye system proves its versatility and robustness in one of Germany’s most traditional industries – salt extraction. When used at the K+S plant, the quantities of salt stored are precisely recorded and visualised in 3D. At proFagus, the manufacturer of the highest quality charcoal in Germany, the Owl Eye system ensures precise storage monitoring in the wood chip store. The system measures the volume of the wood chips in real time and visualises the material distribution as a 3D model. All storage changes are automatically logged.
During the peak season of the sugar beet campaign, Nordzucker processes more than 1,000 lorry loads a day – a logistical masterpiece by the German sugar industry. The Owl Eye system is used to efficiently control this enormous flow of goods and at the same time keep an eye on the quality of the beet.
The system supports delivery logistics with precise volume measurement and 3D analysis of the beet quantities. At the same time, quality parameters and the age of the delivered beet are recorded and documented – for a fair, transparent assessment and optimised further processing.
