Sachtleben Technology is the software and hardware arm of the Sachtleben Minerals Group — we engineer what we operate ourselves.
Severin and Quirin Kraus founded Sachtleben Technology while working at the Sachtleben Minerals mining group. They didn't set out to build a software company — they set out to solve a measurement problem they saw every day on the job.
After running early OWL EYE® prototypes through three years of dust, vibration, shift change-overs and industrial-network reality at the mine, they decided to share what worked. Today the same system runs at 40+ industrial sites across Europe.
Every spec on this site is field-tested before it's sold — because we were the first customer.
Managing Director · Co-founder · Operations & Sales South Europe
Mathematician by training (M.Sc.) — the analytical core of the team. Runs day-to-day operations and customer projects across Southern Europe, and keeps the bridge between the mining floor and the software team. The "what does this actually have to do in a real mine?" voice in every product decision.
Managing Director · Co-founder · Technology & Sales North Europe
Mechatronics engineer (M.Sc., university of applied sciences). Owns the software stack from sensor firmware to cloud dashboard, REST/OPC UA integrations and the SAP/ERP coupling that puts our LiDAR data into our customers' workflow. Drives technical strategy and customer projects across Northern Europe.
OWL EYE® was born out of a simple problem: nobody knew exactly how much material moved through our own mining operations every shift — and the handful of systems on the market were fragile, inaccurate, or bound to a single sensor manufacturer.
So we built our own. Sensor-agnostic. Field-hardened. IT-driven. The result is a platform that measures volume, mass and flow across six scenarios — conveyor belts, stockpiles, trucks, bunkers, wheel-loaders and info terminals — all sharing the same dashboard and the same APIs.
Today OWL EYE® runs 24/7 at 40+ industrial sites across Europe, from sugar harvests in Germany to copper smelting in Germany, from quarries in Portugal to power plants in Croatia.
Today the platform serves mining, metallurgy, agriculture, power, cement, recycling and logistics — all from one software stack.
Three words that might sound old-fashioned — and that we refuse to let go. Everything we build and every project we ship is measured against them.
We tell you what works — and just as importantly, what doesn't. If your site isn't right for LiDAR volume measurement we will say so and walk away. Every spec on this site is field-measured, not marketing-rounded.
Our systems run in an active mining operation 24/7 — including nights, winter, rain and dust. If OWL EYE® can't take it there, we don't ship it. Predictable performance, documented interfaces, SLAs you can sign off on.
Contracts matter, but a handshake matters more. From first quote to service contract we stand behind our word — as a general contractor, a technology partner, or an on-call engineering team for your IT staff.
Sachtleben Technology is a technology subsidiary of the Sachtleben Minerals Group — a multi-generation mining and processing enterprise operating barite and fluorspar mines across central Europe.
That origin is our biggest asset: every sensor, every algorithm and every dashboard was first deployed inside a real mine — surrounded by dust, vibration, shift change-overs and industrial networking reality — long before it reached the first external customer.
